Pitbull loyalty

By: Jenny R
"Pits are the most loyal dog you can have"

Loyalty* is an abstract, human construct, perverted by the nutters' pathological need to anthropomorphize their animals in dangerous and irrational ways.  (Except from when they're using the "animals will be animals"/following instinct argument.)  Pitbulls attack their families as much as they attack acquaintances and strangers combined.  Almost all of which were well cared for, presenting with no past or present signs of abuse or neglect to animal control.  Only a handful of these owner attacks were committed by "rescues" with potentially shady backgrounds.  Most were raised from puppies with the family, and the length of bonding time had no impact on the severity, duration, or frequency of attacks... Regardless of having months or many years together prior to the attack.
*loyalty is defined here as a state of mind; a conscious fealty to a loved one, borne from a genuine concern for anotheroutside of self...  not the ability to operate with pack cohesion

Breeders and breed advocates are ripped apart by the animal they cherish.  No one solicits loyalty from pitbulls, not even the people that champion them:

·        Rescue Angel Mary Jo Hunt, 53 dead

  • Dog Whisperer fan/philosopher Amanda McCommons
  • Breeder, Unnamed senior-citizen, Bronx, NY 2012 dead
·                     Breeder Linda Henry (now rendered a double-amputee by "the most loyal dog on the planet"... Nutter logic would dictate that--like a separate case in which a pitbull ate his diabetic owner's toes--she must've had an infection (unconfirmed, speculation only) and they were "trying to save her life" by removing the infected limbs.
I mean, a dog's mouth is such a great bastion of sanitation and sterility, right??  Doc McRuff will be noble and altruistic enough to treat your child's ear infection or stomach "bug"...  disembowelment is a natural and reasonable solution for appendicitis, screw those pesky and "greedy" medical professionals and go with the pitbull's "care-giving instinct". Another point for the "nanny dog" column!)

The aforementioned are just the breeders and advocates--a sampling of a much largerpool of owners and families attacked, frequently fatally, by their pitbulls.  These "loyal" animals remove limbs, testicles, faces (and don't even have the decency to leave the shredded parts in the open, forcing animal control to have the victim's face/body parts surgically removed from the animal's stomach for potential reattachment viability), sever major arteries and veins, decapitate, crush bones, the list goes on... Even in cases in which a limb is not amputated, the pitbull's unique and powerful physiology and attack style excels at stripping flesh down to the bone.  Entire sections of muscles/tendons are irreparably lost.  The face is the most popular attack target. Eyes, ears, noses, teeth, lips, and even entire mandibles get ripped off.  Even more suffer some degree of scalping or degloving.
What exactly, I wonder, is the nutter definition of "loyalty"? Whatever it is, reasonable people should give their claims no more credence than you would give to the resident looney proselytizing incoherently on the street corner.  It does not sync with reality.
